Let me first say that this vest is hands-down one of the absolute best pieces in my entire wardrobe. I feel like, no matter how I style it, it always looks effortlessly chic–exactly what I’m looking for in any outfit that I put together.
I was excited to see that, when I surveyed all of you lovely readers, this was also the piece you were most interested in seeing styled. I have to admit, I’m with you guys, this is my favorite piece of the January features. I’m really excited to share it with you!
I styled this vest for my birthday here, and this is still a go-to combination. I’ve also worn it to work styled in a similar fashion: with a black turtleneck, a pair of black ankle pants, and leather block-heel ankle boots. I tend to get a lot of compliments any time I wear it, which is a hint that I’ve found a winner!
Wool Vest Styled for Work
The challenge for me today was breaking away from that tried-and-true combination, to style in a way that is still work-appropriate but a little outside the box than my usual styling. This piece is fantastic because it really can go in many directions:
- With a classic silk blouse, boot cut trousers, and simple pumps
- With a fitted turtleneck, skinny pants, and ankle boots
- Over a sweater dress or long sleeved pencil dress with knee-high boots or pumps
I think I could do an entire month focused on this vest, and the many ways to wear it, but today I opted for the classic silk blouse and boot cut trousers. I wanted to keep it classic with a pair of suede pumps and a structured bag–keeping the entire look very structured, with a lot of long clean lines. I personally like the elongating effect of this particular styling, being that I am so short. The long lines create the illusion of being taller, and have a chic, but understated feel.
Tell me what you think of this styling in the comments below–and tune in again tomorrow to see this vest go from day to night!
