A Classic Midi Dress + The Best Podcasts for Your Commute

For so many of us, myself included, setting time aside from our many to-do’s to check in on current events can seem like a chore.  Little did I know, it can actually be very simple!

I’ve found that my 40-minute commute to and from work each day is a prime opportunity to catch up with the latest news, find new ways to take care of my own well-being, and learn tips and best-practices to hone my blogging skills.

I’m the type of person who fills (or overfills) their plate with projects, until there is no time left in the day to work any longer. Because of that, I often find myself so consumed with whatever I’m working on (be it client photo shoots, blog-related tasks, or something needing organized around the apartment) that I forget to tune in with the world outside of my little bubble. I know there’s just no excuse for ignorance in today’s world; we literally have the answers to any questions at our fingertips.

Over the last year, I’ve found myself exploring the world of podcasts, beyond that of just entertainment. For me, listening to podcasts are the perfect way to learn something new or get the latest in current events for an hour of time each day. Recently, my husband jokes that all of my stories start with, “I was listening to this podcast and…,” which, I suppose, is not far from the truth.

I have a plethora of favorites, and some that I tune in and out of, but the list below encompasses my current go-to’s:

For News & Current Events

  • Up First
  • The Daily
  • This American Life
  • NPR

For Blogging Tips & Tricks

  • Food Blogger Pro (a ton of great information for bloggers of all disciplines)
  • Blog Fuel
  • Let’s Discuss Podcast

On Life & Well-Being

  • Let’s Discuss Podcast
  • Happier
  • The Lavendaire Lifestyle
  • The Nine to Five Balance

Also worth a listen:

  • Kind World
  • Tea & Tattle
  • Grammar Girl

I’m always looking for new favorites, and welcome recommendations from all disciplines. Share your favorites with me in the comments below, on social media, or send an email to wellesleyandking@gmail.com.

I’m currently in Chicago for the 5th annual Blog Societies conference, so be sure to follow along on insta stories for some behind-the-scenes peeks into our weekend!

Thank you all so much for reading and have a great weekend! I’ll see you back here on Monday for an exciting new post!

Great post! I've just started to listen to some! I really like GirlBoss Radio with Sophia Amoruso! I enjoy listening to the stories of all the successful women that she has on her podcast.

Awesome! I will have to check out GirlBoss Radio. I am always a huge fan of podcasts that celebrate and empower women!

What I miss the most about my last job is the amount of podcasts I listened to throughout the day. My favorites are WTF, the moth, presidential, marathon training academy, here's the thing with Alec Baldwin, and probably 10 more that can all be found on NPR! I can't wait to listen to some that you suggested.

WTF is a good one, that's on my list of subscribed to podcasts. My husband listens to Pardon My Take and has gotten me hooked on their Wednesday episodes when they do "Guys on Chicks" segment. It is hilarious!

Okay so #1 I love midi dresses and skirts, and strappy heels, so this outfit is adorable, and #2 I am always looking for great podcasts to add to my commute as well! I listen to some of these already, but I should try some of the ones about work/life balance since I never have that in order. I really love Hidden Brain. It's an NPR podcast that explores human nature making the most out of our brain's tendencies. You should give it a listen! -Kristin countdownotfridayblog.com
