The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is a great time to stock up on some seriously hard-working beauty products. For today’s post, I wanted to focus on my tried-and-true favorites, makeup and skincare products that I’ve used for years and truly love. I’ve also linked up a few well-rated products that I consider worth trying out just for kicks. Let’s take a look at my favorites, shall we?
Bobbi Brown Bobbi on Trend Cheek Set – This is a really nice palette for anyone with fair to a medium-light skintone. The colors are very subtle and natural looking. It’s a double-deal because it also comes with a Bobbi Brown brush which means great quality and flawless application.
Anastasia Brow Studio Kit – I have been using this product for months now and I absolutely love it. This brow kit is perfect for filling in and creating a dramatic yet natural brow shape. It comes in multiple color options and (hint!) you want to choose a color one shade lighter than your natural brow shade.
NARS Nordstrom’s Best Cheek Palette – This is a comprehensive palette, complete with bronzer and highlighter. For the makeup junkie, or the girl who just wants a few quality pieces, this is a winner for your collection.
MAC Look in a Box in Sunblessed and MAC Look in a Box in Fun and Flirty – If you’ve followed Wellesley & King for any length of time, then you know I am a MAC girl. I tried both of these two makeup kits and can say, without hesitation, that the colors in them are beautiful and really perfect for creating a full natural summer look.
The “sunblessed” version is a really pretty bronzy-peach lip color with a soft neutral brown shadow. That kit also comes with the gel liner that I use every single day; it’s my absolute favorite eyeliner.
The “fun and flirty” kit comes with the most beautiful pink lip gloss, and a really soft pale pink shadow. I actually think the lipstick that comes with this one would look best on someone with fair to light skintones, but the gloss by itself was really flattering for my medium skintone as well. Honestly, I think the gloss and shadow are so pretty in this kit that the value of the kit is worth it for those two products alone.
CLARISONIC Mia – Pink Sonic Skin Cleansing System – Oh gosh, I have been using this tool for… six years now? It is the absolute best exfoliator and cleansing tool out there. Your skin feels noticeably cleaner and softer after only one use. I will never stop using this guy.
CLARISONIC Brush Head Set – This is a great set for covering all the basics. I like to bounce between the Acne brush head, sensitive brush head and deep-cleaning brush head, so this complete set is a HUGE value for all of those in one kit.
CLARISONIC Sensitive Brush Head Set – If you are new to the CLARISONIC tool or you have sensitive skin, this is a good brush head to start out with. You should change your brush heads every few months, so this kit will last you a good year (or more if you give them interim cleanings).
Bobbi Brown Bobbi on Trend Full-Size Brush Set – My Bobbi Brown makeup brushes are my favorites in my toolbox. The application using these brushes is flawless, specifically the foundation brush. It buffs foundation into the skin, making it look like you’re not even wearing foundation. This kit would make an awesome gift–it’s never too early to start your Christmas shopping!
T3 Featherweight 2 Dryer – There’s certainly something to be said for good hair products, but that can be a real investment. If you’ve got a little bit of cash to spare, and want healthy frizz-free hair, pamper yourself with this splurge piece.
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Radiance Peel Ritual – I could talk about this kit all. day. long. I started using this about four years ago, when my acne was at its worst. Based on the many outstanding reviews, I ordered it from Sephora and have been hooked. I used these peels every day leading up to my wedding, and that was the best my skin has ever looked. Because these guys are pricey, I avoid using them every day and ALWAYS take advantage of sales like this one. This is a GREAT value for the product. You will notice the softness in your skin after one use, I can promise you that (caution: they are a peel so you should use them at night or at least a few hours before going out, as they do cause redness)
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Skin Supplements – The hydrating eye cream in this package is awesome, a product I’ve been using for two years now. This moisturizer has a silky smooth and lightweight feel and is really soothing to the sensitive eye area. The hydrating face cream is a little bit thicker and has a nice smell; it would be best for those with dry/sensitive or normal skin. It’s a little too oily for my oil-prone skin in the summer months though.
Philosophy Purity made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser Duo – This facial cleanser is super gentle and, combined with the CLARISONIC Mia, makes my acne-prone skin feel really clean without overdrying. When I originally purchased my CLARISONIC, it actually came with a mini bottle of the Purity Made Simple. Because I was so happy with the results, I continued buying it once the sample ran out.
Philosophy Pure Grace Perfumed Body Lotion – All of the Philosophy “grace” scents are soft and clean smelling (though I do miss the Baby Grace scent–anyone else?). They are one of my favorite casual scents since they just smell so fresh; they’re not overpowering or overly strong either so if you’re sensitive to scents this is a nice option.
worth a try
These other options caught my eye as I was browsing through the sale. All of them have great customer ratings and/or come from dependable brands. I am intrigued by each, and would consider trying out any of the below. If you’ve used these products, let me know what you think in the “Comments” section below.
Most of these products do not go on sale often, so this is an ideal time to stock up for yourself or for future gifts. Hopefully this roundup is helpful to you, and if you have any questions about the products listed above, please let me know. I currently use all of these products, and have been using most for several years. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have!
As of today, the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is now open to the public; don’t forget to tag your own favorite picks using #nsale on social media. Happy saving!
Other than that–it’s Friday! Have a wonderful weekend, whatever you do!
