The Three Pieces of Outerwear You Need For Spring

With unpredictable weather during the early spring months, the right outerwear is often an essential piece of our outfits. Today I’ve rounded up the only three pieces you need to get you through whatever is in store during this rainy/snowy/sunny season.

1. The Trench Coat

The trench coat is a no-brainer. It is truly a wardrobe staple, and one that absolutely transcends time. It is the perfect companion for the working woman on her morning commute, as well as the stay-at-home-mom who wants to look put together while running errands. There are great options at every price point, and it’s totally worth investing in. If you already have one and want to add to your collection, I think this soft pink option is absolutely perfect for spring.

2. The Anorak

Anorak jackets are great for casual days, or outdoor events: baseball games, picnics, early morning walks. These lightweight hooded jackets are incredibly comfortable and easy to throw on with jeans or even shorts. I found this one at LOFT last summer and grabbed it on clearance, but this and this are great similar options.

3. The Field Jacket

The field jacket is my go-to. It’s a bit dressier than the anorak, and I find I reach for it the most often, for just about any occasion.  It’s part preppy, part edgy, and easily works with a number of different looks. Of course, my favorite is from J.Crew, in the canvas color, especially for spring.

Have a wonderful Monday, readers!

Thank you, Jessica! It was great to meet you and Cathy in person as well–especially after being long time fans of both of your blogs. I hope your trip to London went well; it looked like you were able to enjoy some “touristy” attractions while you were there. I’m glad it wasn’t all work and no play in such a beautiful city!

Absolutely! There’s a reason it’s been around so long! I only wish I were the person who invented it, I could’ve made millions! As we were shooting this post, Arnie told me that my next investment should be a Burberry trench. I’m not sure if he knows how much they cost, but I said ok anyway. ;) Hope you’re having a great week, Terra! You’re looking beautiful in all of your posts!
