This dress is perfect for whatever Valentine’s Day plans are on your agenda. It’s conservative enough for the office, feminine enough for date night, and fun enough for a Galentine’s get-together.
I purchased this dress back in college, from Victoria’s Secret. What has made it last through the years is its classic A-line silhouette. The A-line shape flatters a small waist and camouflages wider hips. My figure is pear-shaped, so you’ll see me wear this style quite often.
The dress is made of a cotton-spandex blend, meaning it’s extremely comfortable for a long day at the office, but just as great for dancing. The spandex fabric is a great choice for my fellow petite friends, since it usually means tailoring at the top is unnecessary. Beware though, unless the style comes in petite sizing, hemming is almost always required for any regular sized dress.
Adding a silk blouse underneath creates a conservative feel. If you’re going straight from the office to date night, you can easily remove the blouse at the end of the workday. The sleeveless tank-style top is flirty without showing too much skin. With a skirt length this short, keeping the top covered maintains balance in the overall look.
Accessories are the fun part. You can play as much or as little as you’d like with a dress this bold. The color is “look-at-me” enough for my taste, so I’m choosing not to overdo it on the accessories: adding only my favorite leopard print clutch, a sparkly choker style necklace, and a pair of gold pumps. You could also go with a long necklace, statement earrings or a skinny belt with a dress this simple.
In line with the Valentine’s Day theme, I wanted to offset the vibrancy of the cherry red dress with soft pink lips and cheeks. Here I’m wearing the Bobbi Brown Rouge Pot in pale pink–easily one of my favorite double-duty lip and cheek products.
