As a petite woman, finding clothes that make me appear taller is a blessing. One of the best ways to do that? Floor-skimming flare jeans. I purchased this pair on Poshmark – a great alternative to paying the full retail price, especially for pieces that are a little more on the trendy side. I picked up these Madewell Flea Market Flares on Poshmark for 1/3 of their retail price, and this particular pair was new with tags.
I talked about my affinity for Poshmark in this post, and I highly recommend it as a tool for finding some great pieces at discounted prices. When shopping on a budget, even a few dollars can make a difference.
When it comes to leg-lengthening denim, these few tips always help me out. Give them a go, and see how they work for you, too.
HEM TO HIT THE FLOOR
You’ll want the hem to skim the floor, or be slightly longer. Anything shorter will take away from the continuous line from hip to floor.
WEAR YOUR HIGHEST HEELS
When taking these to the tailor, I specifically had them measured in my highest heels. I knew that doing so would allow me to wear them without worry of them being too short in any pair of shoes. This is not a style that I would wear with flats–in fact, doing so will most definitely make me look shorter.
OPT FOR A HIGH WAIST
The high waist will only add to the overall illusion that you have legs for days. Plus, it also gives you that “control top” feeling and eliminates the possibility of muffin top or any unwanted peeking skin.
TUCK IN YOUR TOP
I chose a fitted top, but anything tucked in to that high-waist will work. A crop top or bodysuit would both pair equally well, without detracting from your added inches. An added bonus: choose vertical lines. Even the subtle vertical pattern of this fitted top helps to draw the eye and emphasize the top-to-bottom length.
