Now that Thanksgiving is over, I have begun obsessing over all things Christmas (yes, feel sorry for Arnie), starting with tartan plaid. This time of year, I cannot get enough of this festive pattern, so much so that today’s post is dedicated solely to my holiday favorite. I’ve styled it three totally different ways, so you can see how truly versatile tartan plaid can really be.
FOR FAMILY DINNER & GAME NIGHT
There’s nothing easier than a simple dress shirt and a classic cardigan with an extra bit of bling for a holiday night in. Mine and Arnie’s families like to gather for game nights, which could involve some charades. This just means that comfort is key! This tartan shirt looks adorable with my favorite jeans and sparkly necklace. (Plus, I always throw on that red lip just for kicks this time of year.)
FOR THE OFFICE
Take that same shirt to the office with a timeless wool pencil skirt (if you’re brave enough to bare your legs). It’s been unusually warm this year in Pittsburgh, so this is a look I would easily be able to wear to the office. I think the juxtaposition of plaid with animal print makes for a level of interest in your look, but a classic pump gets the job done just as well.
FOR WEEKEND FESTIVITIES
There are so many great outdoor activities to take advantage of this time of year. You can turn your weekend look holiday-friendly by layering a long cardigan, knit hat, and down parka over a tartan shirt for an easy-to-wear weekend outfit.
Also (in case you remember this post from last year), this weekend is the Lawrenceville Cookie Tour here in Pittsburgh, and I absolutely love visiting the local shops to see what’s new and try their favorite cookies.
and, because I sincerely can’t get enough…
I’ve linked a ton of my favorite tartan plaid pieces for the season. I actually just picked up this scarf for under $15 (with coupon code), and have been layering it with everything. Such a great bargain find!
