I’ve been creating these easy simmer pot gifts for years now and, no matter who I give them to, the recipients always gush about how much they loved them. There’s something really special about filling your home with scents of the holiday that just make you feel all warm and cozy inside. As an introvert, you can go ahead and sign me right on up for all things hyggelig (definition here🙃).
These are perfect gifts for teachers, neighbors, coworkers, and party hosts. They are so easy and truly enjoyable to receive.

How to Create Easy Simmer Pot Gifts
The great thing about simmer pots is that you can make them in so many ways and, oftentimes, out of whatever you have on hand at the moment. It’s also a fantastic way to use produce that’s on its way out, instead of tossing. I’ve found that the recipe below is my favorite for this time of year. (You can also try them in the spring with lemons, rosemary, and thyme!)
What You Need
For Gift Wrapping
- 8 16″ pastry bags (these are the ones I use)
- decorative twine
- scissors
- name tag labels (scroll down for my FREE template!)
Simmer Pot Ingredients
- 1 bag of fresh cranberries
- 4 fresh oranges (1 per gift)
- 1 container of fresh rosemary
- 8 cinnamon sticks (2 per gift)
- Whole cloves, optional
- Star anise, optional

Assembling Simmer Pot Gifts
My pro tip for assembling these in the prettiest and most efficient way, is to start with the smallest items and work your way up to the large ones.
- Layer the cloves, star anise, and cranberries on the bottom later.
- Line the sides of the pastry bag with the rosemary and cinnamon sticks.
- Add the orange to the very top.
- Twist the pastry bag
- Use the twine to tie a bow
Last, I like to add a label with simple directions in case the recipient has never made a simmer pot before, juuust in case.
