Restyling an Old Fall Favorite

I don’t recall a single time I’ve worn this cape and didn’t receive a dozen compliments! You might remember it from last year when I styled it after the ModCloth IRL pop-up, and it has since become a fall staple. I often wear it to work over a turtleneck or long sleeved sweater. It’s actually perfect for layering with sweaters because, where the bulkiness of the sweater sleeves can feel uncomfortable or overly tight in a typical coat, the roominess of the cape makes it conducive to lots of layering.

FIT & QUALITY

The cape I’m wearing is an XXS, and it fits really well on my 5’2″ frame. The shoulder seams fall at the right place, and since there are no sleeve lengths, hemming them a non-issue. The cape length is perfect for covering up the hip area, and would even work with leggings.

HOW TO STYLE IT

  • Casual – With leggings, a long-sleeved tee and a pair of rubber boots.
  • Dressy – With leather skinny pants and heeled ankle booties
  • Work – Over an A-line sweater dress
