When going to Hawaii, one should wear Hawaiian print, yes? I don’t know, maybe that’s not a rule, but when I stumbled on to this maxi dress in Target before my trip, I figured I’d take a shot and try it on.
(Literally no maxi dresses in regular sizing have ever fit me off the rack, so I had really low expectations about the fit.)
As a side note, I was determined to pack for the entire week using only a carry-on and my backpack, so the fact that this wrinkle-free fabric could easily be rolled up in my suitcase made it a no-brainer. Not to mention, it was only $29.99, so I didn’t feel like I was breaking the bank for something I probably won’t get a ton of wears out of. (I wasn’t able to locate this exact print online, but the same dress does come in two colors here and here, which actually seem more practical for normal summertime wear).
Once we got to Hawaii, my sister and I started making plans for how to spend our week and one of the first things we booked was a Friday night Luau. Since we were leaving on Saturday, it seemed like the perfect way to close the week. I ended up saving this dress for the Luau, and paired it with metallic wedges, these white ball earrings (which also come in blue, navy, gold and coral), and this straw clutch (that I took absolutely everywhere, and basically used as my wallet for the week).
Sadly, today’s plans will be a little different than last Friday. Still, more to come from our week in Hawaii next week on W&K, including a list of what we did and some money-saving tips for planning your vacation! Happy Memorial Day weekend!
