The Perfect Fall Accessory

Fall is all about layering, especially in Pittsburgh, where we can go from 30 degrees to 70 degrees within the same day. With that kind of weather, scarves, capes and ponchos offset the oscillating temperatures since it’s so easy to add/remove the extra layers.

This plaid cape is exactly what you need to look stylish and keep warm at the same time. You can pair it with long sleeved dresses, as I’m wearing it in today’s post, for a dressed up option, or with a fitted turtleneck, skinny jeans, and riding boots for something more casual. Whatever you’re pairing it with, keep the items fitted. A piece with as much volume as a cape or poncho looks best with figure-hugging pieces so that the overall look maintains balance.

I talked about this affordable jersey-knit swing dress, available for under $30 in Monday’s post. It’s made of a heavier, sweater-like material so it also provides a little extra warmth. You can shop the exact pieces from this entire look below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or leave a comment below!

Thanks, Tracy! I think there’s just something about fall that makes me always want to wear plaid. I associate it with coziness.
