A weekend away is certainly something to look forward to, but the act of packing can sometimes overshadow the excitement of our upcoming adventures. After packing for 8 days in Hawaii in only a carry-on, anything less seems like a breeze, and today I’m sharing my top tips for effective packing.
1. PLAN AHEAD
Having a scheduled itinerary for each day of travel, and making a list of everything you’ll need will ensure that you’re prepared and don’t forget anything important. It will also help to avoid overpacking. I always use my Packing for Travel list and Outfit Planners when I’m preparing for a trip. You can find both of these free resources here!
2. ROLL CLOTHING TO SAVE SPACE
Hands down, rolling my clothes makes a the biggest difference when traveling. It’s amazing how this simple little trick can allow you to create so much extra room.
3. WEAR YOUR BULKIEST CLOTHING DURING TRAVEL
If you’re traveling somewhere that requires weather boots or heavy outerwear, you can save room in your suitcase by wearing, instead of packing, them. When expecting rain during travel, I opt to wear my favorite Hunter boots and rain coat during the flight. It keeps me warm and also allows me to fit everything I need in my suitcase.
