#OOTD: La La Land

Happy Friday, friends! I’m so happy that the work week has come to an end. I’ve been feeling a little under the weather this week. In fact, it seems like everyone at work is coming down with something, so I’m hoping to get some rest this weekend.

I wanted to write a post on finding your personal style, but I just didn’t have it in me. That’s such an important post that I have to be on my game to give you the best possible content. Stay tuned though, it’s coming soon.

Instead, I’m sharing this look with you that I wore last weekend when Arnie and I went to see La La Land. For such a whimsical film, I wanted to wear something easy and fun. You guys know that I’m such a huge J.Crew addict, and I thought this sweatshirt was so sweet when I first saw it. I knew I wanted to add a button up shirt underneath so that it didn’t look too casual. What do you guys think of that?

La La Land was such a fantastic movie. I wanted to see it from the first time I saw previews; I’m a sucker for musicals and fairy tales. Arnie, on the other hand, was not quite as excited. Admittedly though, and despite the periodic breaking into song, he really enjoyed it–which had me pleasantly surprised.

THE OUTFIT

What went right:

  • I love the juxtaposition of the sweatshirt against a button up shirt; it’s such a great mix of pieces.
  • I adore this lip color, and again, love the way it totally transforms a simple graphic sweatshirt into an intentionally chic outfit, tying in that bag, too, of course.

What needs work:

  • Ok, I admit that when I put this outfit on, I knew that it was going to look bulky. I even admitted to Arnie that I expected to “look chubby” in the photos wearing this. I think this would look really adorable with my skinny dark wash jeans and Converse sneakers, but honestly, it was just so cold that I didn’t care to show my ankles.
  • Can someone tell me what shoes to wear with cuffed boyfriend jeans? I love these jeans with pumps or heeled sandals, but I never know how to wear them in the winter when I need my feet covered. What would you guys do?
