I’m so excited to bring you today’s post, and so grateful to the lovely ladies below who made it possible. The focus of this post is workwear to suit different body types: tall and lean, hourglass, and apple shaped.
Each of the girls have styled their own looks, and these are actual outfits they’ve worn to the office. I think they look great all the time, and was thrilled to feature their styles on Wellesley & King.
TALL & LEAN
Meet Lauren. She’s pretty adorable in just about everything, but with her tall and lean figure she looks amazing in fitted pencil dresses, like the one she’s wearing below. She has layered it with a longer-length blazer in a playful color that suits her personality. One of my favorite things about Lauren’s style is her fearlessness with color. I gravitate towards quiet neutrals, especially in the office, where Lauren frequently dons a bold lip color or bright dress.

HOURGLASS
Martina is that lucky girl with the hourglass figure that most of us ladies long for. Her shoulders and hips are roughly the same width, so a just-below-the-knee length pencil skirt is both professional and flattering to cinch her waist and emphasize her curves. We joked about this being the outfit she chooses for the most important meetings, but that’s the power of clothes!

APPLE
Last up is my girl, Monica. You may remember her from this post when we attended a wedding together last summer. Her favorite color to wear is black, which we often joke about. It’s unusual to see Monica in practically any other colors. Monica’s “apple” shaped figure is ideal for tunic style tops, like she’s wearing here, and she perfectly balances the top with a pair of skinny pants and simple black wedges: always the epitome of chic.

A huge thank you to these beautiful ladies for bearing through the wind (and giving up their lunch breaks) to shoot these pictures-you’re the best! Give them some love in the comments below!
Great post Lauren! I think this will be so helpful to women of all shapes and sizes who aren’t sure how to best flatter their bodies!
Agh! Isn’t your friend Monica so sad The Limited is gone? I know I am!?
I know, Jessica! It’s such a bummer; that was such a classic store!
LOVE
Great job, ladies! And great post, Lauren! I love the recommendations for all body types. Really shows how different styles can make all the difference.
Thanks, Tina! I had such beautiful models; they did a great job!
I absolutely love the look on Martina, she is just gorgeous. It would be even better if you put her in a shirt that fits. Gaping at the button holes is just silly on someone so slender! I would love to see capsule WARDROBEs for each body type. Great post!
