Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend; mine was equal parts relaxing and productive, the type of weekend I look most forward to.

I put this look together with a wedding or formal event in mind. Both of these pieces, the crop top and the mini skirt, are pieces I picked up during the Memorial Day sales at the nearby outlet mall. I thought the skirt would be an easy choice for work, but this crop top made it a bit more trendy and less “office-y”.

I really like the look of the crop top with a skirt worn at the waist so that you’re showing very little (if any) skin. It just works to have a top that doesn’t require tucking in. At my age, I’m not interested in wearing a crop top with anything low rise. To me, that is a look better worn by teens and early twenty-somethings during high school and college years. Beyond college, it no longer feels age appropriate.

I would try out the outfit above for any weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, etc., you’ve got planned for the summer. It’s simple, on-trend and chic. For the office, I’m thinking I’ll pair this skirt with a sleeveless button up blouse (like this striped one, or this solid version) and a black pointed toe pump or flat. And I’m looking forward to wearing the crop top with a high waisted black pant (like the joggers here) and a caged heeled sandal (like the ones here).

Any other recommendations on ways to wear either of these pieces?
