As promised, today’s post is all about the guys. I (again) coaxed Arnie into letting me take some photos of him this past weekend when he happened to wear the Fourth of July-ready outfit you see below.
Last Saturday, Arnie and I didn’t have any plans so, on a whim, we decided to check out Sewickley, a Pittsburgh suburb with a quaint shopping strip lined with boutiques and cafés. Coincidentally, Arnie donned this red-white-and-blue get-up for our trip. This simple outfit embodies all of the qualities I look for in my own wardrobe, but for guys: the solid shirt and shorts are timeless, yet on trend and versatile, and the look is simple and masculine. And of course I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the shoes. Arnie was so proud when he “copped” these “kicks.” He has spent many Saturday mornings in front of his computer/ipad/phone waiting to purchase his “Yeezys.” Frankly, I’m not a huge fan of most of them, but this pair I like. There’s something about a pair of clean, white tennis shoes that make a look truly sharp.
Altogether, this look would be perfect for a July 4th cookout. You can pull on the Ray-bans while playing cornhole and throw on a zip up hoody for when the sun goes down, to enjoy the fireworks display. It’s the perfect outfit for “understated patriotism,” ideal for a laid back barbeque.
