If I could make one thing clear, it’s that having a minimalist wardrobe does not mean having minimal options. On the contrary, having a minimalist wardrobe means that you are able to use your creativity to come up with new ways to reinvent old pieces. That, my friends, is what this post series is all about.
One of the easiest ways to reinvent some of your old pieces is by using accessories. If you are investing in quality and classic pieces for your wardrobe, then using some accessories to make them feel current should be a breeze.
Below I’ve taken five items: a classic black dress, a neutral scarf, a long necklace, a pair of black pumps and a pair of white sneakers, and I’ve used these items to come up with three different outfits. I work in an office setting, so it’s important to me that I have pieces that can translate from work to weekend as you may note below (i.e. a black dress). Let’s take a look, shall we?
Outfit #1: This is a great look for the office. The plain black dress with a pointed toe pump is always professional. Adding the gold necklace elongates the body, creating the illusion of a longer torso (great for petites), and the extra scarf can be wrapped as a shawl for air conditioned offices (bonus points for being chic and practical!).
Outfit #2: Take your look from office to weekend by removing the long necklace and adding a comfortable sneaker. The dress is comfortable enough for running errands and, with the casual shoe, look chic without seeming overdone.
Outfit #3: Switch over to your pumps and necklace for date night in this classic ensemble. You can never go wrong in a little black dress, classic heel to make your legs look awesome, and a long necklace for a touch of sparkle.
