Ladylike in Modcloth Pleats

I want to blog about all of the great fall looks that I’m wearing, except… it’s still. so. warm.

When I put this look together, I walked out into the living room where Arnie was sitting and he said, “that’s adorable.” With that, this outfit got a rubber stamp. If you’re like me and you invested hours and hours in the series Mad Men, then you know this look is right out of Betty Draper’s closet, and that woman has a great closet. I’m still sad that the series is over (yes, I know it’s been nearly two years and I’ve yet to get over it), but that doesn’t stop me from dressing in Betty, Joan or Megan inspired looks from time to time.

MODCLOTH PLEATED SKIRT

This Modcloth pleated skirt was a fabulous find this summer and, while I can’t find the exact style any longer, I did link a similar option below. Prior to ordering this skirt, it had been a long time since I’d tried Modcloth’s clothes. The last time I ordered, most of it was too big and had to be returned. They do not offer free shipping on returns—only exchanges—-so I’m much more hesitant in ordering in those situations.

That said, I ordered a couple different pieces from their online store this summer (remember this dress from my formal engagement shoot?) and all of them fit true to size. A lot of their skirts and dresses come in an XXS, but I could get away with the XS more often than not. For reference, in most stores, I wear a 00 or 0P in dresses and tops, and a 25 or 0 in bottoms. I felt that the Modcloth sizing was true to size, and there were a ton of items that I found really cute and unique.

KATE SPADE LICORICE PUMPS

I talk all about my all-time favorite pumps in this post, and they’ve upheld the title for yet another year. I have yet to find a better made, or better styled, pump than these. I own them in two colors and would say that black is the next sensible option.

MASTERING THE NECK SCARF

Full disclosure: literally every time I wear a neck scarf to work, several of the guys ask me what we’re having on our flight today–as if only flight attendants can rock a cute neck scarf! I happen to believe that a neck scarf can be a super chic way to tie an otherwise very simple look together, and make it feel current. This was a trend that I’d been getting into long before it came around in full force.

See other ways to wear it: (1) double-wrap around the neck, or (2) tied in the back. The beauty of neck scarves is that you can make them into so many different looks within a few seconds. One of my favorite accessories, hands down.
