My Favorite Layering Piece

The number one way to add interest to any outfit?  Layering.  And my favorite piece to layer with?

A structured sleeveless vest.  I love the way these instantly dress up your outfit, even when you’re opting for jeans.

Last weekend was pretty brutal in Pittsburgh, as far as cold temperatures go. I didn’t leave the apartment one time on Saturday so, by Sunday afternoon, I was ready to get out regardless of the weather.  Knowing we would likely be walking around town, I wanted an outfit that was comfortable and simple. Layering a vest over my favorite pair of jeans and a fitted cotton shirt was an easy way to take an otherwise basic outfit and dress it up just slightly, so as not to look like a total bum.

SHOP VESTS:

Arnie and I ended up at Smallman Street Deli, one of his favorite lunch spots. It’s a small deli in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, with some pretty mean sandwiches and killer potato pancakes. Afterwards, we picked up some macarons from Gabby et Jules and went to hang out at Commonplace Coffee.  One of my favorite aspects of living in Pittsburgh is its emerging food presence.  There are so many great restaurants and cafés that it’s difficult to keep up, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Other No-Fail Ways to Wear Vests:

Structured long vests always looks chic and dressy. They are easily one of my favorite pieces to wear for any occasion, but especially great for work.  Read on for more ideas!

  • With these below freezing temps, the heat in our apartment can’t keep up. That meant we all had to do some serious snuggling last night. Josie didn’t seem to mind one bit though 🤱🏻 She is a magnet to snuggles.

What are you guys going to stay warm during the polar vortex? I can’t wear enough layers! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Speaking of, I linked this down parka on my Poshmark. After our little one arrived, it became even more important to make room for only the essentials—which meant having only one parka (against my will). Great color and quality, per usual, from @eddiebauer for anyone in need! I linked my whole closet in my bio and on the blog to see more!
