Is there anything better than a delicious, warm slow cooker meal after a cool fall day? They are so easy to throw together and allow for a family dinner without a ton of time spent in the kitchen–perfect for lazy fall afternoons watching football or spending time relaxing with family and friends. This Slow Cooker Pulled Beef recipe is so delicious, and it’s a crowd favorite every time I make it!
I use the All Clad 7-Qt. Slow Cooker, which also has a built-in browning feature. I purchased it several years ago on sale and I use it all the time. If you’re in the market for a really great slow cooker, and you don’t mind spending a little bit extra on it, then I highly recommend this one. It’s one of our most-used kitchen gadgets!

My friend, Monica, shared this family recipe with me a few years ago and it’s been part of my slow cooker repertoire ever since. It has saved me on countless weeknights when I need something quick to put together and is perfect for feeding a crowd. This recipe checks all the boxes–it’s super easy, requires only a few ingredients, and is mouth-wateringly delicious. I literally crave this just thinking about it; it’s the best!
One of the best things about this recipe is how few ingredients it requires. It’s literally a dump-and-go recipe–the hardest part about prepping it is opening up the cans! Simply add all of the ingredients, except the meat, to the slow cooker and stir them all together. Then, add the chuck roast and let it cook on high for 8 hours or on low for 4 hours.

Once the meat is fully-cooked, you can shred it with two forks. I’m lazy and usually just shred it in the slow cooker but if you’re feeling more ambitious, you can remove it to do the shredding. If you do choose to shred in the crockpot, just be careful if your crockpot has a nonstick coating. You don’t want to cause any damage with the forks.
After shredding, return the beef back to the slow cooker and let it cook on high for an additional hour so that the meat is nice and tender.
Once the meat is cooked, serve it on italian hoagie rolls with mayo, mild pepper rings, and a thick slice of provolone cheese. Yum!

Market Notes About Slow Cooker Pulled Beef
You can use either a beef chuck roast or a beef rump roast when making this recipe. In general, both cuts of beef come from the tougher part of the cow, which makes them ideal for slow cooker recipes. The rump roast will be slightly more tender than the chuck roast and therefore a bit more expensive. I have used both and they are equally delicious, so you cannot go wrong. I recommend utilizing a local meat market if you have one in your area.
