It’s a well known fact that denim and eyelet are two favorite fabrics of mine (examples here, here, here and here). Both are quintessentially classic, originating as far back as the 1800s, and yet look as fresh today as they did so many decades ago.
I purchased my denim jacket from H&M years ago, but I love this current version from ASOS. The light wash and cropped length is ideal for wearing with skirts and dresses with a defined waistline, especially for petite frames. Longer lengths can seem out of proportion with a skirt this long, creating a more “boxy” and less feminine silhouette.
+ eyelet midi skirt
The eyelet skirt was from GAP just last year, but this one is almost identical (and probably better quality). At the time I purchased it, I underestimated how much wear I would get from it. I’ve paired this with striped cotton tops, simple white tees and tanks, silk tops, and button up blouses. The midi length is work appropriate, and it’s very comfortable and breathable for summertime weather.
The eyelet skirt with this plain cotton tee is comfortable and casual, but still looks put together and ladylike. As my wardrobe evolves, I make it a priority to add more pieces like this skirt. Since most of my days are spent at work, I mostly need clothing that looks professional for an office environment. At the same time, I want those pieces to be versatile enough to tone down for weekends or casual events.
+ minimal accessories
To complete the outfit, add in only a few accessories to keep the overall look simple and effortless. A boyfriend watch, link bracelet and some small stud earrings. Neutral shoes and a tote are functional without showing up the rest of the outfit.
You can create your own version of this outfit with the pieces at the bottom of the post. If you find other great options, let me know in the comments below, or even just say hello. 🙂 Thanks for reading today’s post, you guys!
