One of the most fun parts of blogging is that it is a great motivator for getting out and exploring new places, if not for scoping out new photoshoot locations then for finding inspiration in the people and places around Pittsburgh.
Last weekend was one of those really great weekends for spending the entire weekend exploring. The weather was beautiful, which made it so nice to be outside. We made our way to Frick Park for the very first time, and found fun wall and garage doors in the strip district. I say that exploring locations is such a fun part of blogging because it is neat to see how a simple garage door can transform a photo.
Today’s outfit is nothing special. In fact, both my shorts and blouse are pieces I’ve had for years and years. But, the contrast of the bright pink flowers against this bright blue garage door makes for a really fun scene.
This eyelet trimmed tank blouse was from Forever 21 about three years ago. It’s a simple swing shape, and the volume on top pairs well with the fitted denim shorts. Typically my rule is to choose one area to show skin (meaning top or bottom, but not both). However, it was so warm in Pittsburgh this weekend, and we were spending the whole day outside, so I allowed myself to break this rule.
I picked up this new bag during the last Kate Spade surprise sale, and purchased these neutral block heel sandals as a less-formal option that will still provide my petite frame with some welcomed height. Both pieces have been on repeat since I got them.
When you’re working to build a purposeful wardrobe, it is okay to add in accessories to give old pieces a new feel. I’m a huge proponent of making lists of specific items you’d like to add to your wardrobe before even beginning to scour online sites or stores. For me, usually a written list works better than a mental list, but everyone is different. Find whatever method works for you.
This summer, I had a pair of work-to-weekend sandals on my shopping list, along with a blush bag. I immediately fell in love with the feminine cutouts of this bag, and when I found it on sale, it was the perfect option.
At the bottom of this post you can shop similar outfit pieces to create your very own easy weekend look!
