Despite my love for the city, a part of me will always be a country girl–living for simple days and appreciating a quiet and secluded place in the woods. Today’s casual look makes me think of the country: a peasant style top with subtle bows and a swing shape. The crinkle-like fabric reminded me of the homemade clothes my Grandma used to sew for my Barbies; I felt a bit of nostalgia when I first saw it.
I have to thank the lovely Kylen, of Kylen Every Wear, for these jeans that I absolutely adore. I’ve found that, aside from a few of my go-to stores like J.Crew and Banana Republic, some of the bigger names in denim don’t carry petite sizes, which means that–if I buy their jeans–I can practically guarantee a trip to the tailor.
On the contrary though, this button-front pair of distressed jeans came in petite lengths, and was exactly what I’d been looking for. The fabric is a thicker denim, without any stretch or give that many of the skinny styles are made of.
I’m keeping the entire look fairly simple and understated with my most comfortable wedges–I know every blogger has these, but they are honestly so comfortable. I prefer them in the lighter color, as opposed to the cognac brown, because they blend in with my skin this way. I found that the darker brown cut off my leg at the ankle, and made me appear even shorter.
This is an easy look for your weekend. I would wear this look for meeting friends for lunch, or even to do some sight-seeing around town. Despite the height of these shoes, the platform-style wedge allows you to comfortably walk around without killing your feet.
