There are few pieces more classic than a crisp white button up blouse, and a pair of trousers. This pairing will never look anything less than professional for the office. If you are someone who prefers an everyday “uniform”–a standard go-to ensemble that you wear each day–then these pieces are your new best friends.
A button up blouse can be worn under a shift dress, with trousers (as shown here), with a pencil skirt… you name it. This iconic piece is perfect for the working woman. In today’s post, I’ve paired it with my favorite pair of Ann Taylor dress trousers, matching cognac accessories to tie the look together, and my J.Crew lady day coat.
I wore this look to work last week because, when the temperatures drop below zero, I have a much harder time putting on tights and dresses, and usually opt for pants instead. It’s really hard on those days to choose something a little bit more professional than an oversized sweater, but I knew that this white button up would be comfortable and professional.
This particular button up is from J.Crew, and contains a lot of spandex. For a dress shirt, it’s very comfortable thanks to the stretchy fabric.
Coat: J.Crew (petite), Shirt: J.Crew Factory, Trousers: Ann Taylor (current), Shoes: ALDO (similar), Bag: Michael Kors, Gloves: Ralph Lauren (similar), Watch: Marc Jacobs (similar), Bracelet: Stella & Dot

Did you guy have a nice weekend? It was so cold in Pittsburgh! Taking these photos was pretty tough when I needed to remove my jacket. Hopefully it’s warmer where you are!
