The Best MAC Lipsticks for Fall and Winter

Trying out a new lipstick color is an easy and affordable way to take your outfit up a notch, and there’s no better time to experiment than during the fall and winter seasons. MAC has always been a fantastic option for long-lasting, highly-pigmented lip colors, and their range in formulas–covering everything from matte to creamy to sheer–makes them the perfect option for every preference. I have been a fan for over a decade, trying well over 50 shades, and today I’m rounding up the absolute best MAC lipsticks for fall and winter.

I’ve always been a huge fan of MAC makeup and have accumulated several of their lip colors over the years. For those of you who may not be aware, every time you turn in 6 empty MAC containers, you get to choose a lipstick for free. I’ve honestly gotten almost my entire collection from doing so–it helps that most of my makeup is also MAC. Plus, MAC cosmetics are sold at many retailers, including Macy’s, Nordstrom, and ULTA. To my knowledge, all of them honor the recycling policy, so you can choose the retailer that is most convenient for you.

COSMO

Cosmo is a really beautiful nude for the autumn season. I like it’s peachy undertones and find that it is a lovely compliment to some of my favorite neutral pieces this season. I love wearing it with black, cream, and grey tones, but it also looks beautiful with jewel tones.

CYBER

Cyber is a deep plum–almost looks as dark as black in the tube. What I love about this shade is that it can be layered for more intensity. I’ve worn it in an almost sheer fashion, all the way up to a deeply saturated plum. It’s equally flattering on brunettes as it is on fair-skinned blondes–possibly my all-time favorite fall shade.

BRICK-O-LA

Brick-O-La is a slightly darker nude. If you’re hesitant on wearing some of these darker shades, this one is a milder option that still compliments the fall shades of mustard, brown, and beige. It’s a beautiful, yet subtle reddish-brown.

DIVA

Diva is a really versatile option. I think it’s subtle enough for the office, yet punchy enough for a date night out. It’s a deep red wine shade, so it also works exceptionally well for the holidays.

RUBY WOO

Ruby Woo is your classic red lip–perfect for all things holiday and the perfect bold lip for dressing up an all-black ensemble. I love adding this pop of red when I want a standout lip with an otherwise simple outfit.

GET A FREE MAC LIPSTICK WITH THE MAC RECYCLING PROGRAM

If you’re a fan of other MAC products, you can also take advantage of their recycling program to “cash-in” on a new lipstick. This is one of my favorite perks of the brand. All you have to do is take in 6 empty or unwanted MAC product cases and they’ll give you a free MAC lipstick. Usually, it doesn’t apply to any special collection items but all of the regular lipsticks are included in the recycling program. It’s an affordable and sustainable option for trying a new favorite lip color!

WHERE TO BUY MAC LIPSTICK

In recent years, MAC has become more available and expanded product lines to stores like Ulta and now QVC, so there are several retailers that sell these products.
