8 Ways to Incorporate Fall Into Your Wardrobe

Fall is not quite in full swing (it definitely seems like the warmer weather wants to stick around) but, if you’re like me, you’re chomping at the bit to break out all of your autumn bests, regardless of the weather. Below are 8 of my favorite ways to incorporate fall into any wardrobe.

1. Florals

Florals are most certainly not limited to the summer months. In fact, I may even favor fall florals over summertime wear. There’s nothing like the pop of pretty flowers against a dark black, navy or deep wine fabric.

2. Vests

For days that start out cool and turn warmer in the afternoon, there’s nothing better than a puffer vest to complete the outfit. Layers are the only way to make it when the weather can’t make up its mind, and vests are the perfect layering piece.

3. Knits

Cozy knits scream fall, more so than just about anything else. When the nights turn cool, nothing beats a heavy knit turtleneck, or a long sweater paired with your favorite jeans.

4. Suede

I have a deep love for suede (faux suede, real suede, I don’t discriminate). This fabric is so chic and luxurious that it works well with so many different looks. Suede is one of my favorite fabrics during the fall months. Be it on skirts, moto jackets, dresses, or pants, it is a go-to fabric for welcoming the autumn season.

5. Wool

Wool is a no-brainer when it comes to keeping warm. I personally love it most on this classic fedora (as you may already know). It looks adorable as a skirt, paired with tights, or as a cardigan. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this fall-friendly fabric.

6. Corduroy

Corduroy, in my humble opinion, is one fabric that I would actually use in moderation, and one that I am fairly picky about. I prefer to see corduroy in thin tufted cords, rather than wide cords. You’ll also see me selecting this particular fabric in skirts and smaller scale pieces, rather than jackets or dresses. It can be super cute (don’t get me wrong), but one that I’m a little more careful with.

7. Military Green

Military green is a perfectly versatile color for fall (see how I styled it here and here). It can be treated as a neutral and works with just about anything you would naturally pair with jeans.

8. Capes or Ponchos

Like vests, capes and ponchos are perfect layering pieces and work incredibly well for fall’s indecisive weather. I think that capes are effortlessly chic. They look adorable over a fitted cotton turtleneck and jeans–just an absolutely perfect fall companion.
