Cooler weather has been sneaking in and out these last few weeks, which only has me more and more ready for fall fashion. Of course, when it comes to transitioning weather, cardigans are the closet staple that can stand up to the changing temperatures. (For us in Pittsburgh, it’s not unusual for the weather to start out at 40 degrees, and end up near 80.)
When it comes to sweaters, Madewell is consistently one of my favorite options.
The price point cannot be beat for the fabric quality and, as a Madewell Insider (sign up–it’s free!), I always receive free shipping both ways on all online orders. Even better, if you sign up for their mailing list, you’ll be the first to receive updates on their latest offers, which can help get your order to an even more reasonable price point.
This is the cardigan from today’s post: perfectly slouchy and cozy. It comes in both grey and ivory, both of totally neutral for wearing now or later. I wear this constantly: with pajamas, for morning walks, to run errands. It’s so comfortable that I never want to take it off.
This sweater is similar to the Harbor sweater, but has a drawstring bottom so that you can create a blouse-like hem. It’s lighter weight than the Harbor cardigan, though similar in length, which makes it the perfect companion for days when you don’t yet need a ton of warmth. I wore this sweater this past weekend for a morning walk when it was still 70 degrees. It’s just enough to cut through the breeze to keep you warm.
The Patch Pocket Pullover is absolutely on-trend with it’s high-low hem–perfect for the oh-so-popular “front tuck.” It also comes in five perfect-for-fall, my favorite is the mustard. It also features side slits which, as a girl with a pear-shaped figure, is always appreciated around the hips.
Honestly, this sweater is purely for fun. It’s the kind of novelty piece that adds an element of character to any outfit. It’ll be adorable with white jeans and open-toe ankle booties before we get into the real chilly days of fall, but it will also pair effortlessly with black jeans and a military jacket or quilted vest when the weather takes a turn.
Last but not least is this swingy peplum pullover sweater. Wear it with black high-waisted jeans, ankle boots, and your favorite leather jacket–it’ll be effortlessly chic for a date night. For a more casual outing, your favorite skinny jeans and a pair of flats. The great thing about this sweater is that it will look just dressy enough for nights out, and simple enough for laid back weekend plans.
